Subject	heater core problems!!!

Message	Fore the past 6 days my car has been smelling pretty bad(its a 1991 na)underneith the driver side footwell, and out of the vents. today i noticed coolent leaking into the footwell. I went to pep boys they said its either my heater hoses or my heater core, and they said it would be 6 hours of labor and a grand total of 550$. i go back to my car to go home and my car over heats, i fill the fluid resovior with water and i start it up and i go 4 miles and it over heats again....I dont have 550$ right now or would like to spend it does anyone here possibly know how i could get to my heater core to replace it or check my hoses or whatever.....PLEAZE Z GODS DONT ABANDON ME!!!!
